A Promise in the Pen

When my words aren't worth enough for your ears to be heard.  When my freedom of expression is not free upon your terms.  When you realize and are dissatisfied that you are not blessed with a mute,  and feel that you are forced to hear the feelings I didn't choose.  I put my pin to the paper and let my tears be the ink so  that they don't roll down my face and let the people think I'm weak.  Sometimes I don't choose the poems, the poems choose me  When I express myself and it flows out like the air that i breathe,  and I spit real to your blood so that it flows through your mind and sit heavy on your heart and you feel the weight that was once mine.  And all I ask is that you lighten the load, just simply open your ears and watch the barriers that held you back from understanding unfold.  I write because there is no freedom of speech  the saying is true nothing in this world is free.  Words are only free when it's in the boundaries of others acceptance  once that line is crossed it's past my recollection.  So in this world I'm a mute with power in my words  and no one wants to listen but is itching to be heard.  No one wants to give but is begging to recieve  and shoves their fingers in their ears till their mouth starts to bleed.  So I hand them my heart and lend them my ears wipe the blood off your lips while you tell me you fears. So now my ears full of your blood, my heart heavy with mine  my head falling over with the thoughts that developed over time. So why do I write? It's when i can't be heard  and I'm carrying the burdens of not only me, but the herd.  I write because with it you can declare your future or rewrite your past,  It makes anything possible with a pen and a pad.  It is an "I will" to the future and a "I won't" to the past, it's that one breath of assurance that one more day you can last. It's an I can to every single you can't I've heard  the ones in my mind and the ones that were words. To every "it's gonna get better" I've heard and I've wondered when  while there is power in the tongue there is a promise in the pen.
