Promised Life

She starts to call every week and i start to Hate the ringing of the phone.

she never asks how i'm doing

but i tell her anyway

and she talks right over me

doing just fine now. no problems at all

wrote some new songs,

my best ones yet.

singing in this lounge on friday nights

could be my big break.

I pretend she to listens to me

even though she doesn't wait for me to finish

and each time she ignores me

my heart closes a little bit more

when she talks to Dad

he doesn't say much to either
