Promises
Feeling forgotten and way out of line,
A cold, dead heart that has always been mine.
Fluid descriptions of love and lust,
A boy whose boy left him in the dust.
Breathing effortlessly but hardly alive;
Hoping, dreaming, and wanting to die.
Wrinkled paper like the promises I made,
And only one promise was broken today:
"Promise me that my words aren't pain,
Promise me that I am not a shame.
Promise me that you'll never leave,
And promise that you'll take care of me."
"I promise."
