Promises

Was it left broken and torn into two? Or was it kept, somehow, secret from me I do not know and cannot for see The promise was opened when I ran through I broke the pie crust and could not undo We will not be in accord by decree You can no longer stay here beside me Our pie crust promise was nothing to you Promises not kept do lead to regret The soul is tarnished by the crust breaking I will not remember and do not fret I go on my way trying but aching My heart recalls but I wish to forget The promise broke like a pie crust baking
