Promises and Goodbyes

Promises mean nothing

If you do not stay.

Tomorrow is a maybe

Will you go away?

Nothing is forever.

This I start to see.

Without an always there is no never

But without you there’s only me.

I promised not to cry

When we had to part

But I just can’t watch you walk away

When you hold my heart.

I knew that this was coming

With your beauty like the moon

I did not know however,

This day would come so soon.

You promised no tomorrows

We always have the past.

It seems you linger knowing

These goodbyes will be our last.
