Protecting Perfection
Her skin, pale.
Her eyes, light.
Her hair, golden.
There is not a single
imperfection upon her.
There is only beauty,
the beauty of the gods.
Inside, however, there
is a dark past, filled with
secrets known to no one
but herself.
She let me in.
She let me see all the
secrets and all the pains
caused to her.
She worried I would ridicule
her imperfect heart.
But I did not, for it is
not imperfect.
Her heart is of one that
knows of the world's cruel
and dark fate.
One so pure should not know
such things.
I healed her.
I stiched her gaping wounds.
She is lovely.
And I will give my life to protect her
from the cruelties of fate and chance.
