The Psalms Know

Location

Today I’m done with Earth
I want to say “Goodbye”
All these things I’ve witnessed
Make me say “I’m done” and cry
I’m running on a treadmill
Going nowhere in reverse
Three balls two strikes I’m out
Before I even see first

But the Psalms they know my struggle
They cry out for my protest
The Psalms the know my anguish
And the assault upon my chest

The Psalms from David’s pen
They know what I have felt
I found each tear of mine
Across these pages dealt
I am worn and tired
From all this world’s grief
My bed absorbs my sadness
As I build upon this reef
It keeps out all the hurt
This wall I will construct
Till it no longer contains
And I break down and erupt
The levies will then break
Mercy from His hands will flow
He’ll wrap me in His arms
And say “My child I know

“The Psalms they know your struggle
I heard it before your protest
The Psalms they know you anguish
And the assault upon your chest
I was there when David wrote
‘Be merciful to me O Lord
For I am in distress
My eyes grow weak with sorrow
Soul and body soak in sadness’

“My child I wrote these Psalms for you
I took part in David’s hand
Guided the pen along the page
As the plague swept through the land
Just know that I am God
Death cannot consume you
Deliverance is yours to take
And with it you can renew”

The Psalms they know my struggle
They cry out for my protest
The Psalms they know my anguish
And the assault upon my chest
