Public Speaking

Knees trembling like a sapling in the wind.

Voice shaking, as if he just started to sob.

Fear in his eyes, walking, left foot, right foot,

One in front of another.

Tripping onto the stage, looking at the bright light, like a sun you shouldn't look into.

From the bright sun shaped light, little starts were all staring at him.

His cheeks went from a blush red to a ghost white.

He fainted.

SMACK.

Head hits the floor and rushed to the nearest hospital.

Years later, he walked back to that platform, for something he believed in.

Knees still trembling,

one foot in front of another, determined to make a stand.

he faced his darkest fear and spoke out to those little shimmering stars,

and after he was done, those shimmering stars sparkled back at him,

as he put one foot in front of another, walking off.
