Public Speaking

Sweat dripped throughout my body.

My voice shook quietly.

My hands trembled rapidly.

I could no longer think.

I tried to make the words come out,

But I was left with no success.

My biggest fear took over my life,

Speaking in public.

The day finally came where I had to take the test

The test of getting over my fear and letting myself rest.

So I took a deep breath and closed my eyes,

I let myself think and gave out a sigh.

Up in front of me, sat all of my classmates.

With eyes all focused on my view.

They waited patiently and listened intently as I finally spoke about some news.

Though I was nervous and shaking,

I finished what I needed to say.

Then applause erupted from the kids in front of the stage.

I smiled happily and rushed swiftly off the platform,

Glad it was finally the end.

And then I sat down and thought to myself,

“Hmmmm maybe I can do this again.”

After publicly speaking a couple more times,

My anxiety slowly decreased.

I felt more in power and felt more relieved,

As I stood tall on my feet.

My hands stopped trembling, my sweat stopped dripping, and my voice no longer shook.

I was confident in what I said and proud of who I was,

No longer scared to speak in front of anyone, no matter what.
