A Puddle

I would change my friends

I would change my past

I would change the words I used

I would change not going to Mass

I would change my heart

I would change my future

I would change my old boyfriends

I would change remaining neutral

I would change all the hatred in the world

But what can I do?

I would change all the poverty that cripples our bank accounts

But what’s the use?

We think there’s no way to change anything

But a few raindrops can create a puddle

The gay youth are left on the streets

People of color getting killed on these streets

Women getting raped with no one to help them on these streets

Be the puddle on these empty streets
