Pulled Strings

I tried so hard to belong

To be normal, what is normal?

Yet it always felt wrong

Looking to others on how to be me

Be the perfect size, society said

Starve yourself til your dead

Don't you want to be perfect?

Found without defect

Don't speak your mind

Your opinion could be different

Keep your thoughts alligned

It's in your best interest

Like a life sized marionette

I could feel the strings

Pulling, dragging, making me forget

My mind whispered things

I opened my eyes

There is no normal

After everything, I realized

It's okay to be abnormal

I am me, because of imperfections

They make me unique

A perfectly imperfect selection

There is no me, I'd rather be.
