pulling me under
(poems go here) her thoughts are slowly eating her alive
like corpses rising up with dirt under their nails
scratching the surface but not breaking the skin
her daydreams try to lift her up
but there are weights keeping her down
she is tugged at the strings but pulled to the earth
she tries to fly away but she is too heavy
and there are monsters pulling her down
the earth swallows her whole and dreams try
to lift her towards the sunlight
but the corpses of the past with the rotting bone pull
her down because she can not let go and they will not free their grasps
their grip is too strong and the day dreams are too far just out of reach
her fingertips brush the sunlight as the corpses dig in their nails breaking the flesh
pulling her under
down
down
as the earth swallows her whole
