The Puppet

Strings around my wrists, I do as I am told. I do not act out, For that would be too bold. I smile and I behave, I say “Yes Ma’am” I smile through the pain. I sit up straight I stand up proper The words I speak are not my own. I sing. I dance. I am only here to please, No matter the pain I feel. I do not have a mind of my own. I am the puppet.
