Puppet

Should I apologize?

Apologize for being human

Or without coming with a caution sign?

To warn you of what laid,

Laid behind the seductive eyes and smile

The ones I cannot control

That almost have the mind of their own

For I did not know they would affect you

Or even attract you

That I did not have any intention of this

Or maybe you should apologize

For you, maybe, you didn’t know how to love me

Or even how to kiss me

But I still fell for you

Still through all your little mistakes, I stayed

For my guilt grew

And you knew

For a day didn’t go by I didn’t relive the pain

And your sharp tongue

And cold shoulder made sure of that

But maybe it was fear

Fear you knew you were just human, also

You had flaws

And made mistakes

But you refuse to fall from your pedestal

For you’d take everyone down,

Closest first,

Before you would fall

But I know

And you know I do,

I know why you truly hide your eyes

Or keep the motion of your mouth to a minimal

Fear

Yes, fear

For it controls you

You’re its puppet on strings

You thought you had everyone fooled,

Camouflaging the strings

Behind arrogance and false confidence

But I saw you'd never step up to a challenge

You only jump on moments of complete truth

And disappear when the strings pull,

Push me away all you can

But you cannot erase the memories,

I will always know

And yes, I may have contributed to your distrust

And attachment to this master,

But I am also the closest to setting you free

And you will always know that,

And feel it in your bones.
