Pure in its Birth

When i started writing I heard my heart beat.

Beat fast. Beat mellow. Beat everything that could be.

“Who am I?”

Is the question and answer I always sought… and seek.

Problems could get better or not,

but poetry gave me the lense of reality.

I express myself through the words that only make sense to my soul:

to something deeper the mind does not know.

The rhymes and stresses:

They play a melody in my head

They make it sing whether it be from pain or success.

And in reading other people’s poetry

I have found connections with people I do not know.

With their message of truth,

I felt like they knew me through my bones.

Fairy tales with the same ending

left me in a dream away from my body.

My inspiration came from those who were brave enough to write raw,

and then create a life full of real magic.

I was in the wooden church bench when I heard

“the truth sets you free”

Poetry: I set my truth be, and I let myself free.
