Pure Pain

trickling of water

slow then sputter

splashes

boots in rain

a yellow coat

a smiling face

a grimace

a memory gone wrong

lights ahead

mother cries allnight long

father and diuaghter are gone

no laughter

just pain

empty picture frames

no simple stitch

can fix this

so easy for a scar to see

but no more does the mother cry

no more does the house creak

under a small womans feet

for she clings

the rope is the sling

she is forever in sleep
