Purity

The world turns white Every now and then As blankets of snow Fall softly to the ground Has there ever been anything so pure? The world turns stark quite As distant souls stand behind windows Looking up to the bleached sky And watch in awe Have we ever seen anything so pure? Strong branches crumble Beneath its weight And all you can see is white engulfing the heavens Is there anything around as pure? Screaming kids run out to play As parents call for them To come back to the safety Of their home Will we ever see anything as pure? The snow masks society‘s Cruel face But it always cracks to the surface In its twisted ways Is anything even pure? Days later, the sun comes out Slowly taking the snow away Revealing its true natured ways But I was never fooled Nothing pure can stay. Nothing pure can stay.
