Purple Flowers
Beautiful day. Sun-filled.
As it rose
She appeared with her gloves-
tipped trowel, waste bucket.
She smiles. She tells
old stories and kneels on
the ground, her knee pads pulled up
So her knees resemble a turtle.
That day we rode
to the garden nursery
and picked many flowers
for specific spots. Each tree
and bush, later,
is a fortune,
as much as all the flowers inside Phipps
We know- they’re perfect!
They fit even better than we
could imagine. But you now
see them from above
a light
watching over me.
I thought they were crazy
saying only a month,
we thought the
best was to come. I still see
you in the flowers,
but they miss you too.
Now I would do
anything to garden with you.
