Purpose

Is there anything out there for me?

in a world of billions,

what does it take

to do something useful?

to do something great?

i barely even know

who i am

or who i could be.

i have so little experience,

just sitting in this lonely town.

so many opinions i haven’t formed

so many things i don’t understand

too many questions

with answers out of reach

so who am i?

they keep trying to tell me

my entire life’s success

based on my behavior

as an angstful, adolescent slug

so what can i do?

who can i be?

one thing they can’t teach us

is how to be happy.
