Purpose
Bloody, wet and screaming.
On the other hand
Bloody wet and screaming.
Both enter the world innocent and free.
Now older,
One makes friends while the other retreats into solitude.
As one grows tired from laughter, the other grows tired.
A child can not be corupted by such themes as stress and anxiety.
In between games and foolishness, the child is not perturbed by the meaning of life.
But as one sings and dances, the other meanders and sulks.
Looking back I see I was not the latter.
But the child that once was is no longer.
As the impending future looms above my head,
Precipitating its inadequacies and imperfections to water the garden of my worries,
I become frightened, and...
Suddenly, the future becomes deliquescent.
Because I found it.
I am no longer the laughing, dancin, singing youth of my past.
Now I am a laughing, dancing, singin man.
Purpose.
Without it I am alive.
But without it I can not live
