Purpose

You never know what will happen,

Life goes in unexpected ways.

Through the hard times,

And good times,

Even the indifferent.

They say “when life gives your lemons,

Make lemonade”, but why lemonade?

To make the most of what you have?

To succeed and excel in greater goods?

Life isn’t always as it seems.

People come and go,

Leaving you fogged by all emotions,

heartbreak soon leads to destruction.

A loss for words,

Speechless in fear,

Alone in a corner,

Contemplating the next move.

Standing still, yet still spinning,

The world still moves forward,

But you don’t feel it’s power.

I am a high school senior, I love to write in general, photography, and acting. Writing, especially poetry, has helped me not only grow in my talent but also get my inner critic to vanish and fuel my writing. I began writing poetry my sophomore year in high school with my first piece being about nature, and I have continued on with poetry and learned from each writing to make the next one better. Poetry is definitely something I am passionate about, there is just something about how one stanza can bring so much impact to the piece.
