Purpose And Development

I was standing in the shower

Thinking about random thoughts

Shower thoughts that are useless

Thoughts that have provoked me in the back of my mind.

And as I was grabbing my conditioner,

I realized

I didn’t know what my life’s purpose was

I didn’t know what it means to be me

And I didn’t know myself.

There isn’t one moment in my life

That I can pinpoint

When I grew up

But I know for sure

That my life’s purpose is to help others.

I want to help others achieve their full potential

Help people who are chained

Chained to a system of oppression

Chained to injustice.

I want to be a philanthropist

And yet, make a living out of it

So that I can help others

And help myself

Because I realized:

I must help myself before I help others.

And that is me

Grown up

Not fully

But enough to know what I want.

There is so much growing in life

it is nearly impossible to fully grow up

But I have seen enough

Experienced enough

Felt enough emotions

To develop thoughts

Thoughts that one without the accumulation of experiences

The wide range of emotions

And the diverse experiences

To be considered grown up.
