Purpose For My Words
The rage of the night becomes unbearable
As pain sears through each and every ventricle
Groveling, gasping, crying on the floor
Anything to cease this grueling roar
On the verge of subcumbing to this war
A hope deep inside dares me for more
Picking up the pen in my trembling hand
This heart seems to have one last demand
Quietly at first to the sound of my cries
The story trickles out, my pain it defies
Every syllable comes at the price of a tear
Yet the power it brings extinguishes my fear
Every word brings breath
Each breath smothers death
For from breath I was created
That I might speak words unabated
The life I profess shatters the dawn
Just like the stars my sorrows are gone
Words have created a consuming fire
Rising from the sky for all to admire
