Purpose Over Perfection

The financially stable

Think their lives are perfect because they

Buy the most expensive items,

Such as Ferrari’s and Lexus LS’s.

That rides as smooth as the warm sand on your feet at the beach.

Such as a four story mansion.

On the top floor there is an indoor pool

That has a diving board and slide for their children.

It has a game room on the second floor

With a classic Pac Man machine with original paint.

Also a pool and ping pong table with a layer of dust on it,

Because their kids haven’t played with them for over a year.

But perfection cannot be bought.

People search for the perfect job,

One that pays the most money

With the least amount of work required.

One that is close to home so if their child calls saying they are sick,

they arrive fast and save the day.

But there will always be a flaw in their job.

A flaw such as hating the lady in the cube next to you

That pulls out a bag of Lays Original Potato Chips at three o’clock,

And eats them as loud as she can.

But humans find flaws in everything.

People find the most flaws in others.

Getting past these flaws builds relationships.

These relationships can help guide you to your purpose.

Your purpose might be to save lives

To help families with swollen eyes,

Pacing back and forth in a waiting room.

Your purpose might be to educate students

Sitting in an old wooden desk,

With a freshly sharpened number two pencil in hand

Eager to learn.

Your purpose might be to fight to prove someone is not guilty.

so they can go back to their everyday life

Of rolling out of bed,

Taking a long and traffic filled drive to work.

Working a twelve hour shift

Then driving home with sore feet and an empty stomach.

They scarf down a microwaved frozen dinner

Then climb into bed,

But without purpose

Life is aimless.

When you find your purpose

You guide your actions to fulfill this purpose.

You will not do useless things

If you find what your purpose is.

This saves you time to do what is important to you.

You should always strive for purpose over perfection.
