Pursuing Defiance

I was obediant, but you were defiant

Not a toe out of line, I'm coloring inside the lines

But you took the lead, you braved your life

You're windbeaten but inside you are dressed to the nines

I was afraid, but you were fearless

You plunged straight ahead, full of confidence

I'm chasing your shadow, but you're always patient

Your reassuring smile takes away my hesitance

I was stranded, but you were my compass

The Northern Star that led me from the darkness

And although the path I take is still not easy

You guide me with no reservations and kindness

I was safe, but you were reckless

Yet dreams don't come true unless you try for it

You taught me to be strong, to push my boundaries

To achieve my goal, it's all to your credit
