Puzzle

Can't you see we were never meant to be?

We were two completely different puzzle pieces,

forced together by convenience and adoration,

eventually breaking off pieces of ourselves to fit together in a doomed way.

Because we didn't fit, the spaces between the corners and sides of us allowed so much to get in-

so many opinions, bad feelings, and sadness.

Even though the spaces let the bad flow constantly in,

we held onto the corners that did fit together,

hoping that one day the rest of our pieces would fit with each other.

Eventually, we realized that things weren't meant to be forced,

and left to find the piece that fit with ours,

though permanently marked by the dents we made in each other

trying to make the pieces fit.
