The Quandary

How to thank someone    to whom I owe everything?  The silent struggle   with this new stranger    unable to trust    my heart crying, “danger”.  The silence stretched     in a power struggle     while I stared at the wall    not moving a muscle.  Then suddenly, a breakthrough    I needed you badly    and I’m not stubborn enough,   there began the journey.   Leading me out  of dangerous tides   through quicksands and fog   you were my guide.  You captained the ship  on which I slowly sank and never judged me  for that which I thank.  Compliments to counter  my inadequacies    advice to calm   my anxiety.  I learned to trust I learned to question I learned to love myself again.  How to thank someone who fixed my broken wings there are no words  for the one to whom I owe everything.
