Quantum Leap

You lived here

moved your furniture in, painted the walls red, laid down a welcome mat

and lit a cigar to make it your home

You had a house warming party

invited all your friends to see it, received gifts for the new place

and had house guest from time to time

You claimed my heart as your place of rest

all yours

only yours

your home

you lived here

But then one day you just ceased to exist

to put it into science terms

you quantum leaped out of my heart

your home

where you lived

You didn’t move from one bodily organ to another

after all were would you go

my stomach couldn’t stand you and the acid might hurt you

You didn’t travel across the space

you didn’t swim through my rivers in my veins

No

you quantum leaped from my heart

you simply stopped existing

you stopped living in my heart

your home

where you lived

And the worst part is I didn’t even feel it when you jumped

when you quantum leaped out of my heart

your home

where you used to live

But I think you left your cigar burning

and I’m still waiting for it to burn out

And I wonder who’s heart you jumped into no
