Que Es Amar

What is Love

This I suspect I do not truly know

Though perhaps I have seen glimpses

Of affection in your eyes

A tight hug at the end of our time

A kiss goodbye

A text good morning

Still I see glimpses

Of another emotion too

One that threatens the affection

Seeks to stamp out trust

Yet the “love” I see is enough

The attention I seek pleases

The affection I hold holds me

Some say it is unhealthy

But what is truly good

For all that I fear in the world

The unknown scares me the most

This may be uncomfortable

But it is the fear I know

To be known poorly

Is perhaps better

Or maybe easier

Than to not be known at all
