The Queen of 2014

I may be blind, but I'm not deaf nor mute.

I may not be thin, but I can still be cute.

I may not be your first choice, and I know that it's true,

but you have to remember, it's not always up to you.

You just chose yourself, I now stand no chance

to be the queen of our last formal dance.

Would it have hurt you, my name on that line?

Even when you ignored me, I didn't cry, squeal, nor whine.

I complained to my friends, but to no avail

My body felt old, unwanted, wrinkled, and stale.

"I would've voted for you," they all say,

but not one spoke up on the single voting day.

It may not matter, to some, or to all,

but I'd rather be something other than "the girl by the wall."

So take it to heart that I can feel too,

because my old friend, I voted for you.
