QUEEN
What do you think when you look at me
Do you see vulnerability
And innocence and naivete?
Or a hardened soul
With a biting intellect and guarded soul
I think I am little of both
A fabulous combination of warring sides
I think I am absolutely perfect
In my so called flaws and weaknesses I take pride
Because weaknesses are relative
It depends strongly on a person's perspective
And the influences that shape that perspective
I think every part of me is beautiful
Even though I myself or others may not see it at times
I think my being is harmonious
Like a disjointed melody played by the wind chime
It is so utterly me
How can I renounce it
And say I am not pleased
To be this complex enigma
That requires constant analysis
A monumental task, yes
But one that I partake in because of self-interest
I love me
I feel enduring compassion for myself
Besides how can I ever be free
Unless I love myself
To the point where no evil force
No adversary no matter how well trained and persistent
Can break me down
I always have myself to fall back on
So I can rise again
And straighten my untarnished crown
Because I am absolutely divine
No question about it, I'm a queen
The likes of which you've never seen
You don't have to bow down
No, I will stand beside you
Because we are equals
Even if you don't believe it, I'll help you get there
So you can get it right the first time
And not wait in vain for any sequels
This life is so precious
But it is easy not to see just how much
So instead of watching you fritter it away
I will stand beside you and find a way
To help you overcome any and all
Obstacles
It may seem improbable
But I assure you, it is not impossible
It is not as frightening as you might think
To be philosophical
And search your soul
And dig so deep you forget what the warm sun feels like
And what you find staring back at you may amaze you
It may paralyze you
But don't let it stagnize you forever
Close your eyes for a moment or two
And let that beast possess you
But don't let it get the best of you
Come out on top
Trust me, you are capable
If it helps, I'll talk you through it
And once you've conquered it
Let it consume you
So it can dig up more parts of you that never see the sun
So they can be married to the existing ones
To create a multilayered you
An interwoven organic armor
Beautiful raw and maybe a little messy
Try to think of yourself as a kind of farmer
Who must cultivate the power of these scars and revelations
And as they pulsate menacingly, waiting for evaluation
Decide not to be afraid
Decide instead to uncover the inner you
Who's been hiding in the shade
Of the outer you
They are both part of the same entity
Do not fear but respect their ability
To help you develop character
Courage and wit
To get through the shit
That makes up the better portion of a human life
Because this act of defiance
To forge self-reliance
Can empower you so greatly
And you can stand tall like royalty
Next to the fearless champions
Who have never denied themself loyalty
To who they are and what they can be
You can not understand the beauty
Of your potential until you take that leap
And when you finally do, oh the profits you'll reap
Will be so much more than diamonds and good looks
Your rewards will be far more substantive
That include but are not limited to
A sharp mind
Clear and discerning eyes
And a mighty spirit that none can unwind
However they may try
Oh how belated their efforts are
Lucky thing they didn't catch you before your evolution
Your personal act of political revolution
My friend you are now untouchable
And though battle never truly ends
You are more than prepared to undertake such a challenge
Continue to fend for yourself
And never forget
That you have allies out there
Who will soothe your fears
And confront all your enemies with you
Because chances are
They are fighting the same demons
And eventually you and them both will be victorious
Trust me
I believe in you
