Queen Bee
She was all style and no substance.
All bright colors and full makeup.
She was adored by all and loved by none.
Ruling with an iron fist,
She enforced her Dark Ages style hierarchy.
Anyone out of line was immediately made an example of,
They were ridiculed and made fair game.
Anything could be done to them
Without fear of retaliation or punishment.
Adults say “kids just being kids”
But I saw the hellish beast
Queen Bee was becoming.
Her features began morphing
Into something more serpentine.
Her laugh became a cackle
With an almost inaudible hiss.
Her skin grew scales
And developed an unnatural sheen.
No one noticed her reptilian change but me,
Or so I thought.
He saw it too.
The girl he thought he loved
Nothing more than a hideous beast.
He'd been so blind for so long.
Began to blame himself
Thought that he caused her change.
He refused to listen to me
When I tried to reason with him.
I claimed society made her this way.
That she did this to herself
And no one could have stopped it.
No one believed my tale
Of fire and brimstone
That she was the Devil herself.
It was only after a while
That more people began to see the Beast.
The more people she burned,
The more people began to speak out
Against the foul creature.
Plans began forming to slay the Beast.
Some said shoot, others said burn
But the resounding agreement was simple;
She must be tortured.
She must suffer the way we did.
Queen Bee became the target of all our hate.
It wasn't long before even her allies
Defected to our side.
Not long after, the whole school
Was conspiring against her.
This would be her final reigning moment.
We would be responsible for her fall.
We would be responsible for the
Freedom of a generation.
Our names would become whispered legends, in these hallowed halls.
The boy and girl who destroyed
The wicked Queen Bee
And fell in love, naturally.
