Queen of Red Hearts

Dark red, like the roses on Valentines Day,

Dark red, like the cherries on the bush,

Dark red, like the Queen of Red Hearts in a pile of cards.

Manipulates you,

Confuses you,

Because on the inside,

It is pale white!

In every apple there is a truly magical surprise!

Sweet, sugary apples!

Apples are as amazing as alliteration!

Apples are falling, apples are falling!

Why?

Spring has arrived and the trees are blooming!

Crunch,

Munch,

Chew,

Apples are special, and so are you!

I think this poem is about a game related to cards like Poker. (Be specific!)

My favorite part of the poem is the phrase “Dark red, like the Queen of Red Hearts in a pile of cards”. I like this part of the poem because it is very mysterious. It is comparing something red with a pile of red cards. It makes me wonder and want to read the rest of the poem to find out.

What does this poem remind you of? Something else you read, something you have experienced, or something you see in the world around you? This poem reminds me of the movie Parent Trap because of the following; in one part of the movie the twins are betting different accessories and money for a game of Poker.

Were there any poetic devices used in this poem that made it stronger in your opinion. Identify them and say why you think that poetic device worked well. Some poetic devices are alliteration, repetition, and onomatopoeia.

Thank you for your advice, but my poem has that title so that the reader can imagine it as a different poem, but at the end the surprise is that it is a red apple! I hope you can understand better my poem and the effects of the poetic devices it has. Have a great day!

I think that your poem is really good, but It doesn't really explain what it is about, because it sounds like you are talking only about red things not about the queen of red hearts.
