queer
going to one of the most magical places ever
--and no, I don't mean Disneyland
(as magical as Disneyland is)
but Drag Con
seeing swaths of the most stunning sections of humanity
gods & goddesses in glitter
people in shoulder pads, kimonos, mesh tops
platform heels that would make Chanel jealous
queens who are stunning examples
of the best we have to offer as humans
pure, ethereal beauty
who grace the world with their presence
and how you feel totally unworthy next to them
but they counter with a supernatural sort of kindness
that leaves you in awe
Parents with their kids
Young people all gussied up
dressed to the gay nines
A place chock-full of so much love
and fierceness
and acceptance
and beauty
It threatens to overwhelm you
and you, for a moment, feel lesser
out of all these diverse shapes & sizes & tones
but then you remember
everyone (including you!) is queer in their own way
