Questions of Truth

What is color?
A trick of light
Or lack of light.
White is bright.
Black is dull.

But that’s not true.

Black is all colors.
Happy Yellow
Envious Green.
Loyal Purple.
Blue Blue.
Black is deep.
White is blank.

But that’s not true.

What is race?
A starting line.
An ending line.
The winner wins.
The loser loses.

But that’s not true.

A race is run
By only runners.
Others have no chance.
And thus they don’t try.

But that’s not true.

What’s a bus seat
Or a day-dream
Or a word
Or a person?
Nothing.

But that’s not true.

A seat is movement
A dream is reality
A word is a battle cry.
A person is a people.

That is the truth.

What is the law
Or the sign
Or the county jail
Or the world?
Constant.

But that’s not true.

The law is theory.
The sign is torn.
The county jail is crumbling.
The world is changing.

The truth is everlasting.
