Quicksand

Love

Is nothing

But quicksand in the marshes

Entrapping you

With a single step

Pulling you in

Closer and closer

Until your body

No longer frets

Unprepared

You’re scared

Imagining ways to escape

But the pull of the pit

Becomes more prominent

With each move you make

Captured within

This prison of love

The wise welcome

Their final hour

Surveying their surroundings

Mesmerized by what’s there

While thoughts of eternal slumber

Change the views

Of everything

From trees to air

Love lets us see

The world

In all its glory

Better than ever before

But soon we fall

Below the line

Forsaken

Inside a hole

Trying not to die

With no reason to survive

We cry

Till death

Do us part
