Quiet

It’s quiet here

But i know its just me

Because I can see people laughing

Just out of my reach

Off to one side I sit

Out of sight, out of mind

My eyes are unclouded

But my ears they seem deaf

I am a watcher

In a silent film world

Everyones a character

And all the worlds a stage

But I’ve forgotten my lines

And I miss all my cues

I sit here unspeaking. Unmoving. Unknown

Moving can be daunting

When there’s nowhere to go

I gather my courage

I stand and I speak

But no one can hear me

(they wouldn’t care anyway)

I try to forgive

They don’t mean to hurt me

But it’s so hard to be kind when one careless word floors me

I try to be angry

But I know they don’t hate me

I don’t owe them forgiveness

But they don’t owe me their kindness

The world’s not out to get me

I’m not that self absorbed

Quite the opposite actually

But thats another story
