Quiet

His heart pounded as he waited to pull the trigger

Sweat oozed from his palms as he ancticipated pressing that button

As The tension in the room grew thicker and thicker

Fear poured from his eyes, but he was reminded that he was a glutton

For war

But now he wasn’t certain

His heart seemed torn

He knew this was the only way, to end the pain of today

To cease the fighting, to calm the crying

To ease those long, agonizing nights

They had to drop a bomb on that terrifying sight

But now he wasn’t certain

It just didn’t feel quite right

This seemed the only option

To end all wars with the world’s biggest coffin

To hold the world’s largest riot

Just to finally make the whole earth quiet

That’s what needed to happen

Quiet

If there was quiet,

Then peace could come

If there was friendship, then our victory song could be sung

For everyone

Without bombs, without hate

If there was love

We could wipe away that slate

We could learn to love without demand

We could take each other hand and hand

And stand together, forever, and remember that the quiet didn’t come from bombs

The real quiet came from the calm, inside their brotherly love

Realizing this, he lifted his hand

He disobeyed orders, but made some new friends

He knew that he had something, much stronger than any button

He had love, and that was enough for him

To stop all wars

But now he is certain

He is no longer torn
