quiet fire
You’re like sunshine lightning through the dark -
the dark that holds my every part.
It shatters all, consumes my heart and mind,
and I don’t know if I’ll manage to survive.
I blame myself for not becoming your reason to smile -
the dark inside me carried too much pride.
It gives my aching soul a hard time,
and suddenly, the fire comes from different sides.
It makes me calm inside,
and brings a feeling of your gentle smile.
The fire makes me feel alive -
as if you were still by my side,
exposing me to sun and beautiful blue skies.
Reminding me of lovely times
when flowers bloomed in unspoken rhymes.
When our souls would strive in to tie
and give each other a chance to thrive.
The fire now arises only at nighttime,
when no one can see me struggling,
because of those spines.
