Quiet, No Voices

Quiet, no voices

Except for

Pencils moving across paper

Faint sounds in the other room

9:15 1st period started

Now kids are working

Quietly no sound

Thinking about what to write

Voices start talking

When the teacher says to

Discussing what they wrote

Sharing with each other

Suddenly quiet

The teacher is teaching

Again, and the students listen

The teacher is the only voice

Quietly

Taking in information

Listening to the voice

That they rely on

Silently people

Listen to who and what

They believe and hope in

Quiet, no voices
