Quite Like You

I've never met someone quite like you

My smiles make you cry
And your frowns make you think that everything is right
You tell me that you don't want to be just another face
Or name
Yet you only sit there and dream
I've never met someone quite like you

You told your mother you hate her
Dreamed of the dad that left you as a child
You want him not her
Always chasing away those who love you
Then complain about being ignored
I've never met someone quite like you

Your grandma died and you didn't seem at all phased
Didn't even go to the funeral
You spent the day with friends trying to forget
whined about not getting any inheritance
I've never met someone quite like you

You went to the store
You met a girl there
She was angry at the world
Turning over displays

You took her to dinner
there she told you
That she had lost her family
Friends
Husband, all because of an attitude she couldn't shake

When she got up and walked away
You never saw her again for the mirror had shattered
You've been surprised in the worst way

You've never met someone quite like you

The great thing about life is
There is always more chances
New friends around the corner
And a sunrise for you to watch on a new morning

You cleaned up your act
You've found what makes you feel special
You are special
And to be quite honest
I've never met someone quite like you
