The Race

Pitter patter my heart was racing.

As we lined up to begin the race.

My legs felt like stone as I set a pace.

In my head fell the thought of placing.

To achieve this I began the chasing.

To separate my speed I made some space.

As I went on I ran with little grace.

We felt the pain as we started Bracing

That race day felt like an endless heat wave.

It felt like a thousand degrees outside.

As the race came to its last leg

I shaved some time off. Around the corners edge I eyed

the finish line. So close I almost caved.

I broke through the finish line and won. Yay!
