The Race

I set up at the line, tension is growing

A brief moment of silence goes, but it seems an eternity

A bang echos the feild... My mind goes blank

People merge into the battlefeild

I look to win this battle but all I can think is

Move.

"I hurt" my body says, but all I can do is move

"Stop this pain" a tiny voice screams, but I have to win

"Why do this" my body pleads, but I trained for this

"Looks the finish, stop" cry my legs, but this is my moment

I fly across the line, sweat and tears mix as I stop to gasp for breath

I look up, to see the victory I had wraught

This is one battle I will not lose
