Racing to the End

It seems that our life

Is about  racing to the next best thing

Even when we are young

The pattern is there

I wanna be a big girl

I wanna be able to read

I wanna do things on my own

I don't need you

Lemme do it myself

We always are racing to the bigger, better things

When we are grown

A new, but familiar pattern emerges

I want to get married

I want to get my career started

I want to be own my own

I  can do this by myself

It is not until it is too late that we realise

We want to slow down

Enjoy want we have

In

This

Moment

I wish I spent more time with my parents

I want to remember what it was like to be carefree

I'm not ready to leave

I'm not finished yet

Unfortunately, this is not the way life works

We cannot go back

We cannot change the past

The one thing we can do

Is enjoy the life we have

While

We

Still

Can
