Rain

Raindrops pound on my windowpanes
Demanding to be let in.
In this storm I hide away,
Trying to block out the loud, heavy din.
I hear a drip, drip, drip, and felt something wet.
Turning my head I see
A large crack looming over me.
I move away, with much regret.
Sulking in a corner I wait,
I feel lethargic and tired
As I wait for my fate,
For change to transpire.
But change does not come,
And the leak gets bigger,
It chases me down wherever I run,
Draining my youthful vigor.
In a desperate attempt, I try to flee,
But the only exit left leads to the storm,
What should I do? How can this be?
I don't want to face that shapeless form!
That monstrous unknown!
What do I do? I don't want to step out.
Why must I do this alone?
With no choice left and plenty of doubt.
I cross the threshold.
