Rain
It’s raining, down pouring
I’m wet and chilled to the bone.
But I could not be happier.
I can’t help but smile and jump into the puddles like I did when I was a child.
A sense of giddiness envelopes me
I’m running, laughing, jumping and screaming.
I feel free, just for one moment I can pretend.
I can pretend to be a child with no worries, no responsibilities.
I can pretend that everything is alright in the world.
That miracles happen
That there is hope for the future
That I’m ok
That bad things won’t happen
That happiness is eternal
Under the rain I can cry and smile and no one sees my tears and I can pretend they don’t exist.
I can pretend to be really happy and complete inside.
Under the rain I can feel a semblance of peace that it’s denied to me every day.
But then it stops raining and I fall back into reality.
