The Rain Falls Within Us

Rain falls on not only you, but your inner being.

Your coat grows heavy.

Saturated fibers expand with the unrelenting tears of the sky.

The heavy reminders of your failures overwhelm you in the form of droplets.

Your hair, now a mess,

Prevents your woeful eyes from seeing.

It clings to your face, it begs for shelter.

You simply brush it aside.

And everyone hears your shoes squeak,

But you hear them scream.

With every step, they gush,

Choking from your burdening sins

Symbolized by the water collected at your feet.

Your skin shivers and attempts to crawl away.

But sticks to you nonetheless,

Ultimately part of you,

Though, it seems to despise the rain.

But the rain, as well, you conclude, is ultimately part of who you are.

And your skin still crawls.

And your shoes still scream.

And your hair still clings.

And your coat still drags.

And the rain still falls.
