Rain Over St. Peter's

Rain over St. Peter’s…

Heaven gently cries,

And flowers bloom-

Winter’s last grip washes away,

Life to death’s claims replies:

“I restore what you consume.”

The steeple against grey sky

Reminds the pilgrims weary-

That death itself will one day die,

And life will be seen more clearly…

Today it rains over the Church’s Heart…

Tomorrow it may shine,

The day next may send storms,

But the Word is still Divine.

The Church’s Heart is broken-

‘She travails in pain,’

Yet She remains the Redeemer’s Bride-

Though today it rain…
