Rainbow
Circled in White, in a snowstorm
How does one escape a World so lacking in hue?
When Men in Suits come and use
Magical brushes to cover any Color that may spring to the surface?
When the One who can see the Color is condemned,
Shut Away. An Outcast.
A Danger to an Apple Pie Society with
An Arsenic Crust.
Where can you go when a World is White?
A blank canvas a child's messy fingerprints will never touch.
A Dream ready to be plucked from its branches, but unreachable still.
Where can you go? Is there anyplace to go?
Anyplace that may be unexpected?
What do you do? When your Freedom has a Snake coiled around its neck,
Struggling creates a Tightening.
Expansion creates Constriction, Constriction, Construction.
Where do you go? No trails show under a glistening White.
No prophecy will tell you the Way. Blindly Walk.
Walk into a Storm that cares not if you Live or Die.
If you Freeze under the Icy Fingers that Choke the
Life from You.
Blue Lips are not the Proper Color, They say.
Hide Your Face.
If you can Fix it, you may show it.
Hide behind Potions and Empty Miracles.
Disguise your Distaste with veneers and Whitening Processes.
Go Away, with the Rest of Your Kind.
But where do you go? When even a Rainbow is turned Away?
Regulated and Retained, Destroyed and Shamed.
How can Color be so Despised?
Fluorescent Fire burns where a Heart once stood.
Humanity and Morality may Fade but
The Stark Whiteness does not.
Dirt? Not Here.
Death? Not Here.
Turn Your Head, If You Please.
A Perfect World.
But Where Can You Go, When a Rainbow Is Unloved?
