Rainbow Flags

“Hi I’m Gisselle! What’s your name?”

“I’m izzy!”

“I think you’re really pretty can I have your number?”

The first interaction with the girl of my dreams.

You saw me through the sea of rainbow flags,

And approached me.

I was so terrified,

And yet so excited.

What would I tell my mom?

An exchange of phone numbers

Led to many nights of conversations about our wildest dreams,

And our deepest aspirations.

What would I tell my friends?

You gave me the courage,

You offered me the support,

You inspired me.

My dear, you live your life so free of other’s opinions.

What would I tell my boyfriend?

I like girls.

You helped me realize that.

And for that, I am forever grateful.
